I'm not an expert, but I'm learning! After 27 years in the classroom doing things the "proficeint" way, I started over in a new district, new subject, new grade level. I am learning new techniques, using new tools and enjoying my career more than ever! Using Twitter for PD on demand, and "pirating" ideas from folks like Alice Keeler, Dave Burgess (Teach Like a Pirate), Tood Nesloney, and Matt Miller (Ditch That Textbook), I have found myself in a position to share what I am learning!
This semester, my seniors are reading "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch. Each class is compiling an eBook using Google Slides to share with the other classes. They will use a google form to evaluate the work of 72 students and their work will be seen and evaluated by 72 students as well as selected administrators. My juniors are replacing the standard dreaded research project with researching biographies and compiling children's books & games for the 3rd grade students on our elementary campus! We will finish off our project with a trip to the Elementary School to share these with their intended audience...Instant feedback!!
My intentions for this session are to work other teachers through the process of getting these lessons started, getting students involved, and presentation/evaluation of finished products.
